TAIPEI (WiMAX Day). The WiMAX industry in Taiwan is projected to generate $3.3 billion by 2012, according to Industrial and Economics Knowledge Center (IEK) in Taiwan. This estimate is based on the current industry forecast of NT$850 million for 2006. Companies such as Zyxel, Foxconn Electronics (the registered trade name of Hon Hai Precision Industry), Accton Technology and MediaTek have already began investments in the market. According to industry sources, WiMAX Forum may approve the establishment of a verification lab for WiMAX standards in Taiwan, following the establishments of the same labs in Spain and South Korea.
