BOGOTÁ (WiMAX Day). The Colombian ministry of communications, Mincomunicaciones, will go ahead with its auction for WiMAX licenses in the 3.5GHz spectrum band scheduled for the end of September despite complaints of irregularities in the bidding process, according to an official statement. Communications minister María del Rosario Guerra said the decision was made taking into consideration several complaints from participating members and that the interior minister had reviewed the process as a whole. Mincomunicaciones has come under fire from several participants in the auction who accused the ministry of receiving a proposal from Comcel after the 4pm deadline on Monday August 14. The ministry will announce the winners of the bandwidth within a 30-day period, starting September 31, the report added.
