Continued delay for 2.3GHz Auction in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR (WiMAX Day). According to a report from Reuters today, the Communications Minister in Malaysia, Dr Lim Keng Yaik stated that no plans have been made to set a new date for the tender of WiMAX licenses. The Minister further stated that he did not expect a date for the tender to be set at anytime in the near future. The tender for 2.3 GHz spectrum licenses, which was set for July of this year, was cancelled because “the specifications [were] not according to Ministry policies” Dr Lim Keng Yaik stated in July. Several bidders were expecting to receive licences, including DiGI (a subsidiary of Norway’s Telenor), Maxis, Redtone International and NasionCom Holdings.
