WiMAX goes Nomad in Mauritius

DUBAI (WiMAX Day). The Mauritian company Network Plus, which has offered Internet services in Mauritius since 2003, has changed its name to NOMAD. “It is a strategic choice because it allows us to serve other islands of the area”, declared Rizwan Rahim, president of NOMAD, at a press conference yesterday.

The new name and identity of the company symbolises mobility and freedom. These ideals will help Mauritius to remain in permanent contact with the whole world.

WiMAX in Mauritius will soon become the new superhighway for the transport of voice, data and video. “We said we could have wireless broadband, and today we proved it. We have approximately 5 000 customers who use our service through WiMAX technology,” said Mr Rahim.

In addition, NOMAD has organised a TV-reality show called NOMAD No Limit Challenge, with the collaboration of MBC. In the show, six candidates are chosen among the 300 first registered voters on October 13. “The six candidates will confront great challenges on the, all together in a house. One candidate will be eliminated each day and the winner will be known on the last day.

The winner will receive a five-day holiday for two in Dubai, plus a laptop computer and ten years of Internet free with NOMAD,” Mr Rahim noted.

NOMAD is a subsidiary company of Africa DIGITAL Bridges Networks Ltd based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
