Entel unveil 3.5Ghz network in Chile

SANTIAGO (WiMAX Day). Entel, the second-largest Telecommunications Company in Chile, has announced the launch of the country’s first WiMAX network. According to BNAmericas.com, Entel invested US$5 million in the first stage of the WiMAX deployment that includes 22 base stations. Entel has two national licenses of 50 Mhz spectrum in the 3.5 GHz band. It was further reported that Richard Büchi, the general manager of Entel, said that the company intends to invest another US$15 million to expand the network throughout Chile. Entel plan to be able to reach 500,000 mobile data users in the next four years. Entel also provide mobile, telephony, data and Internet services.
