RICHARDSON (Press Release). Navini Networks attended the WiMAX Forum Plugfest with its mobile WiMAX 802.16e equipment. Navini is the global leader in providing plug-n-play broadband wireless access solutions with the most experience in commercial deployments.
Navini’s Ripwave MX base station, in commercial shipment since April 2006, participated in interoperability testing in three different frequency bands. (2.3-2.4GHz, 2.5-2.6GHz, and 3.4-3.6GHz) using 802.16e software with Smart Beamforming.
“We have been at every Mobile WiMAX Plugfest and look forward to Wave 1 and Wave 2 certification,” said Sai Subramanian, VP, Product Management and Strategic Marketing, Navini Networks. “Bringing equipment in the three different bands confirms our Smart WiMAX solution will be ready to deliver personal broadband services upon certification.”
Navini’s Ripwave MX pre-mobile WiMAX platform offers a unique and proven portable wireless broadband network solution that provides non-line-of- sight (indoor) coverage and easy plug-and-play activation, with a proven seamless upgrade path to 802.16e (as announced in June 2005).
“We tested using the exact commercial hardware platform that we currently ship, and we have demonstrated a simple s/w upgrade to mobile WiMAX,” added Subramanian. “The same hardware will support both MiMO and beamforming with a simple software upgrade, thus delivering a platform today that can go all the way to Wave 2 Certification.”
“We are ready to go as soon as the labs open for business,” said Roger Dorf, Navini’s president and CEO. “We will be one of the first with commercially available mobile WiMAX, supporting our vision for personal broadband, delivering high speed Internet everywhere, all the time.”
