BANGALORE (WiMAX Day). Officials in Bangalore, the Silicon Valley of India, have announced that they plan to become India’s first fully unwired city by providing the seamless deployment of WiMAX. The government of Bangalore has sent RFPs to five equipment vendors for a trial launch. The 200 million Rs (US$ 4.2 million) project will be developed by K-Bits, an agency of the governments IT Department. The announcement stated that two or three vendors will be awarded a contract, which is expected to be in the next 12 months. The WiMAX project was announced to coincide with the Bangalore IT conference on 28 October.
