TALLINN (WiMAX Day). Alcatel announced yesterday that it will supply WiMAX equipment, including base stations and CPE, to Elion Enterprises in Estonia. Elion is the largest telecommunications and IT provider in Estonia. It is owned by AS Eesti Telekom, itself a subsidiary of TeliaSonera. Elion is licensed to use 3.5 GHz in Harju County. In other regions of Estonia, Elion uses the spectrum an infrastructure of Levira AS. Levira is a radio communications infrastructure company based in Tallinn. The owners of Levira include the former Estonian Broadcasting Transmission Centre Ltd and French telecom company TDF. Both companies were awarded 3.5 GHz spectrum in 2005. Other companies deploying WiMAX in Estonia include Norby Telecom and BaltMax.
