Motorola forecasts $100m in Brazil

SAO PAULO (WiMAX Day). Motorola expects the market for WiMAX services in Brazil to be valued at over US$100 million in 2007. According to a report in BNAmericas.com, the estimate is based on revenue that will be generated by those companies that currently hold spectrum licenses, as well as new companies that will exploit licenses that are soon to be sold at auction. Joeval de Oliveira Martins, Motorola’s Latin America channels director, told BNAmericas that Motorola is preparing to offer a wide range of products to WiMAX operators in Brazil, and that Motorola “will target operators that are faced with the challenge of reaching the ‘last metre’ due to problems such as old cables”.
