MADRID (WiMAX Day). Neo-Sky, the Spanish broadband operator, has signed an agreement of strategic collaboration with Intel to promote WiMAX in Spain. Neo-Sky presently provides broadband via Satellite. The executive president of Neo-Sky, César Arranz, stated that the agreement signed with Intel is “essential” to assure a rapid adoption and deployment of WiMAX in Spain. According to Gilles Karolkowski, EMEA business development manager at Intel, the agreement with Neo-Sky is “an illustrative example of the very promising adoption of the fixed technology and nomadic WiMAX in Europe.” Mr Arranz further stated that the nomadic features of WiMAX will provide “a distinguishing value” for their service when competing against fixed technologies such as cable and DSL, and that WiMAX “will allow residential and business users to enjoy access to wireless Internet from wherever they want to connect; in a hotel or from home, the office, or even on vacation”.
