ESKILSTUNA (WiMAX Day). SB Broadband in Sweden announced that they have launched a network using pre-WiMAX 802.16e equipment from Navini Networks. The network will be deployed in the rural area of Sodermanland, in the south west of Sweden, and will cover nine municipalities. SB Broadband will use its licenses for 3.5 GHz spectrum for the service. According to the company’s press release, SB Broadband Chairman and CEO Eric Ford stated: “Once consumers get a taste of the freedom of personal broadband, coupled with competitively priced high-speed Internet access, they won’t want anything else.” He also added that consumers: “want a service that is simple to purchase and simple to activate. We believe the added capability of being portable within our service areas will accelerate our growth in the market. This was a very rapid deployment of 50 Navini base stations in only 5 months.”
