Italy seeks comment on 3.5 GHz

ROME (WiMAX Day). According to a report in Milan Finance / Dow Jones yesterday, the Italian Communications Authority (Agcom) has issued a public consultation on the issuance of 3.5 GHz spectrum. Agcom stated that the 3.5 GHz frequency is required for use with WiMAX, which in itself is “important for the realisation of a modern information society.” The Authority further stated that the public consultation is important to define the parameters necessary to begin WiMAX services in Italy, and also for Agcom to have more armament in its effort to “liberate” the spectrum currently in the grips of the Ministry of Defence.
