TUNIS (WiMAX Day). The Minister for Technologies of Communication in Tunisia, Mr. Montasser Ouaili, announced in an interview last week with the weekly magazine Young Africa, that Tunisia Télécom and Divona Telecom were awarded licenses for 3.5 Ghz spectrum in March 2006, and are authorised to deploy WiMAX networks on a national scale. Mr Ouaili further stated that the ministry is presently reviewing a further licensing program. Tunisia Télécom and Divona Telecom are expected to launch three trials in the areas Berges du Lac and in Sfax.
