TEL AVIV (WiMAX Day). Equipment vendor Alvarion announced today that it has sold its Cellular Mobile business unit to LGC Wireless for approximately $15 million in notes and the assumption of certain liabilities. Tzvika Friedman, President and CEO of Alvarion stated in a press release that the company intends to focus all of the companys attention and resources on WiMAX products. The press release stated that the Cellular Mobile unit delivered revenue of approximately $21 million in the first three quarters of 2006, and that its broadband wireless business will contribute between $47 and 51 million in revenue for the fourth quarter of 2006. Alvarion further reported that it has more than 100 commercial deployments of its equipment and is involved in some 120 active WiMAX trials.
