LONDON (WiMAX Day). Pipex Wireless announced last week that its WiMAX trial in Milton Keynes, England, was off to a successful start and already connecting trial customers. The public-private municipal WiMAX project was announced in September this year, in cooperation between the city of Milton Keynes and Pipex Wireless, which is a joint venture between Pipex and Intel, and uses equipment from Airspan and Ericsson. The current trial follows what was deemed a previously successful trial by Pipex Wireless in Stratford-upon-Avon earlier this year, and still more cities in the UK are to be added soon. According to Graham Currier, business development director of Pipex Wireless, “By May [2007] we will have had hundreds of demonstrations of the technology and… we will be planning our next two to three cities.”
