HDRR connects WiMAX in Loiret

PARIS (WiMAX Day). The French WiMAX operator HDRR has announced that in February it will launch its WiMAX network in the Loiret region of France. According to HDRR managing director Nicolas Pinton, the service will launch to a few hundred subscribers in February, and in the spring will be available to all inhabitants of the region. Motorola supplied the equipment to build the network, including base stations and CPE. HDRR does not intend to sell the services directly. Instead, marketing has been outsourced to leading internet and cable suppliers in the region, including Neuf Cegetel. It is expected that the average monthly price for 2Mbts service will be from 30 to 40 Euros. HDRR is an alliance created by the French companies TDF, Axione and LD to own and operate 11 regional licenses for 3.5 GHz WiMAX spectrum that were awarded in July. The leading French institutional investor Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations (CDC) acquired 20% of the equity capital of HDRR for €9.6 million Euros in November 2006.
