SOFIA (WiMAX Day). Bulgarian WiMAX network operator Max Telecom announced yesterday that it has decided to use equipment from Navini Networks for the launch of its network in Sofia. According to a press release, Max Telecom will further expand its network nationwide during 2007, which will cover 7.5 million people. Max Telecom plan to launch its services to both business and residential customers, which will include DSL equivalent Internet access, VoIP, VPNs and video for surveillance. Krassimir Stoitcheff, CEO of Max Telecom said in the press release “Rather than event-driven pricing, we plan to offer fixed price data subscriptions with VoIP bundled. Once consumers in Bulgaria experience personal broadband, it will change their lifestyles, their behaviors.” The equipment selected by Max Telecom is Navini’s Ripwave MX8 platform, which will be certified for 802.16e-2005.
