Inquam bids on Swiss 3.5 GHz license

BIEL-BIENNE (WiMAX Day). The Federal Office of Communications (OFCOM) in Switzerland announced today that it has received an application from Inquam Broadband GmbH of Cologne, Germany to bid for one of two 3.5 GHz BWA licenses set to be awarded. OFCOM stated that it would now examine the application and decide on granting the license to Inquam in March.

According to the OFCOM statement, the minimum price for the licences on offer amount to CHF 5.8 million for the large licence and CHF 4.85 million for the small licence. If Inquam Broadband GmbH meets these conditions, it will be granted a licence at the minimum price.

Companies that were previously awarded licenses for 3.5 GHz spectrum in Switzerland include Swisscom and Cablecom. Inquam was awarded 28 BWA spectrum licenses at auction in Germany in December 2006.
