Norway delays 2.6 GHz auction

OSLO (WiMAX Day). The Norwegian Post and Telecommunications Authority (NPT) has decided to postpone until October 2007 the auction of 2.6 GHz spectrum, which had been scheduled for April 23, 2007. The NPT stated that it requires more time to write the terms and conditions for the frequency licences. The NPT also noted that it is relocating its office in May, “and the NPT staff is going to be more occupied with the relocation process than foreseen. Therefore, NPT postpones the auction in order to ensure a proper awards procedure.”

The auction will award licenses in the 2500 ~ 2690 Mhz frequency band, and “In line with the principle of technology neutrality, the licensee may select which technology to use in the frequency band,” according to the NPT.
