BERNE (WiMAX Day). Swiss telecommunications operator Swisscom announced yesterday that it will begin WiMAX field trials in April in the region of Boltigen. The company said in a press release that “its installation in around 30 households will be free of charge for the community.” It was further noted that “Swisscom will also evaluate the feasibility of such a solution to fill the current gaps in basic service provision.” Swisscom was awarded a license for 3.5 GHz spectrum in 2006.
