HEIDELBERG (WiMAX Day). German WiMAX service provider Deutsche Breitband Dienste (DBD) has launched new services in the German cities of Magdeburg and Dessau. Under the brand name Maxxonair, the new services are part of the company’s continued roll-out of WiMAX around Germany. The Maxxonair service has an entry level cost of € 9.99 euro per month, and provides speeds of 1 MBit/s with a maximum volume of 1 GB. Another service is available for 2 MBit/s at a flat monthly rate of € 19.98. DBD supplies customers with the necessary hardware and installation for a fee of € 69.90 euro. DBD won additional licenses for WiMAX in December 2006 that cover all of Germany, and have already deployed services in the cities of Berlin, Leipzig, and Dresden.
