LONDON (WiMAX Day). Nomad Digital, a provider of integrated wireless mobility systems, has acquired QinetiQ Rail, the commercial rail division of QinetiQ, one of the leading defence and security technology companies. Nomad Digital is focused on enabled WiMAX solutions for train commuters. Last year Nomad Digital won a contract in the UK to provide WiMAX and WiFi services for passengers and staff aboard trains with Virgin Trains and the Heathrow Express. Under the terms of the deal, QinetiQ will receive 8.6% of Nomad’s ordinary share capital, and purchased £1.5 million of Nomad Digital preference shares. Nomad Digital will now be a primary partner of QinetiQ for the provision of integrated WiMAX and WiFi products and services to the rail industry.
