TAIPEI (WiMAX Day). The Japanese electronics conglomerate NEC has signed an agreement with the Taiwanese Institute for Information Industry to work with Taiwan industry in the development of WiMAX products. According to a report in the Economic Daily News in Taiwan, NEC is likely to work with local companies such as Tatung, Mitac, Alpha Networks and Accton Technology. The report also noted that NEC would participate in M-Taiwan, the government program to back the development of mobile broadband services. The joint cooperation will also allow WiMAX products manufactured in Taiwan to be marketed globally by NEC.
