TAIPEI (WiMAX Day). The Kinpo-Compal Group has chosen to partner with Tecom, a network equipment manufacturer, to bid for WiMAX licenses in Taiwan later this year, according to a report in DigiTimes. Kinpo-Compal owns Vibo Telecom, a 3G operator in Taiwan. The chairman of Kinpo-Compal, Rock Hsu, stated today that WiMAX would advance the service offering of Vibo Telecom, and would present significant opportunities for Tecom in the manufacture of base stations and other WiMAX equipment.
