Sanyo chooses Beceem WiMAX chipsets
SANTA CLARA (WiMAX Day). Sanyo Electric Co, Ltd will develop a dual-mode CDMA/WiMAX mobile phone, and will use chipsets and system software from Beceem. Sanyo has yet to offer any further details of its WiMAX development plans. Beceem is one of the first chipset designers to develop “Wave 2” mobile WiMAX chipsets. Wave 2 chipsets have specifications for smart antennas and MIMO. Beceem is also to supply its chipsets to Samsung.
