SAN FRANCISCO (WiMAX Day). Recently awarded with Intel’s Preferred Quality Supplier Award, Taiwanese contract chipmaker Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Inc, announced that it is manufacturing WiMAX-related chips for Intel. While Intel, the world’s largest chipmaker, makes most of its own chips, it does outsource production of chips where there is high demand. A semiconductor analyst with Credit Suisse in New York noted that if Intel is preparing to outsource some of its WiMAX chip production, it may very well indicate exceptionally strong forward orders for delivery of WiMAX chips from Intel.
