Clearwire reports 1stQ 2007 results

KIRKLAND (WiMAX Day). This week Clearwire reported its results for the first quarter of 2007. The company reported that it added 52,000 new subscribers in 2007, giving it a total subscriber base of approximately 258,000, covering 10.1 million people in America and Europe. Clearwire also reported service revenue for the first quarter of US$29.3 million, with gross margin of $12.5 million. The company also reported an EBIDTA loss of $51.5 million, resulting mainly from “expenses associated with recently launched markets and markets under construction.” Perry Satterlee, the president and chief operating officer of Clearwire noted “that 10 of our first 25 markets have achieved the milestone of Market EBITDA positive status,” which represents EBITDA before allocations for corporate expenses and spectrum leases.
