WiMAX is key for broadband in Mexico

MEXICO CITY (WiMAX Day). Canieti, the electronics, telecommunications and IT association in Mexico,  said that WiMAX will play a key role in helping to increase broadband penetration in Mexico, which seriously lags behind other countries in broadband use. According to a report in BNAmericas, Roberto Martínez, a regional director for Canieti, said that WiMAX is significantly less expensive to deploy than other technologies. The Mexican telecoms regulator Cofetel is preparing to auction licenses to 3.4 ~ 3.6 GHz licenses soon, and this will help to speed the roll-out of WiMAX in Mexico.
