NextWave buys stake in WiMAX Telecom

VIENNA (WiMAX Day). US-based NextWave Wireless Inc announced it will acquire 65% of WiMAX Telecom through its German subsidiary Inquam Broadband GmbH. Inquam owns 3.5 GHz spectrum in Germany and Switzerland. Zurich-based WiMAX Telecom was founded three years ago. Since then, the company has acquired licenses for 3.5 GHz radio spectrum in Austria, Slovakia and Croatia covering 16.8 million POPs, and has built a WiMAX network that today boasts 8,500 customers. The acquisition is expected to be completed in Q3 2007.
