LONDON (WiMAX Day). Ofcom, the UK telecoms regulator, announced that it is considering an amendment to the 3.5 GHz radio spectrum license of UK Broadband that would allow the company to offer “mobile” WiMAX services with the spectrum. Presently, the license is restricted to “fixed” wireless broadband use. Ofcom published a public consultation on the matter this week, and said that if mobility were allowed, it would optimise the use of the spectrum and should be implemented as soon as possible.
