BANGKOK (WiMAX Day). According to a report in the Bangkok Post Benchachinda Holding Co, which controls the GSM operator DTAC in Thailand, wants to build a WiMAX network in cooperation with DTAC. The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) in Thailand has yet to issue spectrum licenses for WiMAX, and the report noted that Benchachinda has petitioned NTC to open an auction, and has requested spectrum for testing WiMAX. Vichai Bencharongkul, the president of Benchachinda Holding, said in the report that if it is issued a license, DTAC would operate the WiMAX network, and Benchachinda would provide services.
