BUENOS AIRES (WiMAX Day). According to a report in BNAmericas.com, a local court in Argentina has approved the acquisiton of broadband operator Ertach by Telmex of Mexico. Ertach operates one of the two WiMAX networks in Argentina using 3.5 GHz radio spectrum. The US$22.5 million acquisition was first agreed in August 2006. Ertach presently has 220 base stations in Argentina using pre-WiMAX technology, and plans to migrate its network to mobile WiMAX by the end of 2007.
