DUBAI (WiMAX Day). The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has said that it is considering a number of new policies that will effect the use of WiMAX with 3.5 GHz spectrum in the UAE, including mobility. As this is the most widely used spectrum range for WiMAX around the world, 3.5 GHz is the principal frequency for fixed WiMAX and is being considered in many countries for use with mobile wireless broadband, especially in Europe. The UAE telecom operators du and Etisalat have received licenses for 3.5 GHz spectrum, and both are deploying WiMAX networks.
