TIM Brazil wants WiMAX

SÃO PAULO (WiMAX Day). Last week, Mário César de Araújo, the president of GSM operator TIM Brazil, called on the telecom regulator Anatel to not delay any further the licensing of radio frequencies for WiMAX. Anatel announced that an auction may not be possible until 2008. New rules were introduced for the auction of WiMAX spectrum, which may admit competing bids based not only on price but also the entire economic package offered by a bidder. Araújo commented that the new rules can benefit the process if done correctly, and that the rules must be made explicit to the bidders.
