FITel confirms WiMAX investors

TAIPEI (WiMAX Day). At a shareholder meeting of First International Telecom (FITel) last week, its chairman Ming-jen Chien confirmed that the Taiwanese mobile communications company would admit strategic investors to the company as new shareholders, if FITel is awarded licenses for WiMAX. The FITel chairman said the company has spoken with several strategic investors, but declined further comment. According to a report in the Commercial Times, several potential investors include Intel Capital, Motorola, Alcatel and the American private equity fund KKR.
