PARIS (WiMAX Day). The WiMAX joint venture between GSM operator SFR and Neuf Cegetel, SHD, has signed a two-year contract with Alcatel-Lucent for the supply and installation of WiMAX equipment in France. SHD has a license for 3.5 GHz spectrum in the centre of France and along the Côte d’Azur in the South of France. Alcatel-Lucent said it will equip the planned sites by mid-2009. SHD already has sites operational in the Paris region that were launch as a pilot network at the end of 2006.
