MEXICO CITY (WiMAX Day). The Mexican telecommunication giant Telefonos de Mexico SA (Telmex) released its Q2 results last week, and its Chief Financial Officer Adolfo Cerezo said that the company will spend less cash on dividends and stock buybacks in order to keep more cash for acquisitions. This news lead analysts to speculate that Telmex is still on the prowl for WiMAX acquisitions in South America. In Argentina Telmex already covers 26 cities with its WiMAX platform, and in Chile the company’s network covers 20 cities and is adding some 136 new customers per day.
