RICHARDSON (WiMAX Day). WiMAX equipment supplier Navini Networks announced the first commercial implementation of its beamforming software that is compliant with IEEE 802.16e specifications. According to a company press release, Navini is implementing this software with Liberty Technologies in Panama, where Liberty is upgrading its network from pre-WiMAX to mobile WiMAX. Navini said it would now submit its base stations to the WiMAX Forum for formal testing and 802.16e certification.
