MANAMA (WiMAX Day). Mena Telecom in Bahrain announced today that it will deploy a national WiMAX network using 802.16e equipment from Motorola. Mena Telecom chairman Abdulhakeem Al Khayyat said the first phase of the network should be ready by the end of 2007, however a full range of services will not be available until next January. “The second phase in which coverage will extend to other areas of Bahrain is due to be completed by March next year,” he said. Mr Al Khayyat added that with the help of Motorola, “Mena Telecom will bring cheaper and more affordable access to the high-end communications sector in Bahrain.”
