MIC accepts applications for spectrum licenses

TOKYO (WiMAX Day). The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) in Japan announced that it will begin to accept applications for licenses to 2.5 GHz spectrum that MIC intends to auction later this year. According to a report in <em>Kyodo News</em>, MIC will accept applications for the two licenses available at auction from potential bidders beginning September 10th until October 10th. MIC also has previously announced that no bidder can have more than 33% of its share capital owned by any of the incumbent Japanese telecom operators, such as Softbank, DoCoMo and KDDI.
