Sprint forecasts $50billion WiMAX revenue in 2011

TYSONS CORNER (WiMAX Day). At a technology summit this week, Sprint Nextel executives presented their WiMAX vision to industry analysts and investors. The company told conference attendees that it would spend $2.8 billion on its network through 2008, and in total up to $5 billion on its WiMAX network over the next few years. This spending should result in revenue after 2010 that will grow up to $5 billion. Sprint Chief Executive Gary Forsee told investors that Sprint is way ahead of the curve in supporting WiMAX technology, and that the company “will have a mobile broadband network at least two years ahead of other providers that will be out there.” Sprint also said that the device manufacturers in its ecosystem have committed to deliver 50 million WiMAX devices over the next three year to ensure that Sprint can meet consumer demand.
