PARIS (WiMAX Day). The French media conglomerate Vivendi may increase its shareholding in the French GSM operator SFR. Vivendi CEO Jean-Bernard Levy told the French financial paper Les Echos that he expected the results for 2007 at SFR to be stable from 2006, which were disappointing for Vivendi.
“We do not hold 100 percent of either SFR or Canal Plus. We thus wish to use any opportunity to strengthen our stakes in the capital of these two companies. As to SFR, there are currently no talks with Vodafone,” he said.
SFR is presently deploying WiMAX networks in the centre of France, including Paris, and in the south of France along the Côte d’Azur.
