SOFIA (WiMAX Day). Intel Capital has made an investment in Nexcom Bulgaria EAD. Nexcom is an alternative telecoms operator in Bulgaria, and is presently constructing a national WiMAX network. Nexcom was awarded a license for 3.5 GHz spectrum in 2005. The company launched commercial WiMAX services earlier this year in Sofia, in the mountain resort town of Bansko, and in a number of resort towns along the coastline of the Black Sea. Intel Capital is joined in the investment by MCI Management SA, a private equity fund manager based in Poland.
