GRAND CAYMAN (WiMAX Day). The Caribbean’s largest mobile operator, Digicel, has chosen Alvarion as its strategic partner to launch WiMAX in the Cayman Islands. With a reported 5.2 million customers in the Caribbean and Central America, Digicel is well-placed to offer WiMAX services in areas that have little very low broadband penetration. According to a company press release, Digicel intend to offer both voice and data services throughout the Cayman Islands using their 2.3 GHz frequencies.
