TASHKENT (WiMAX Day). MTS-Uzbekistan, a subsidiary of Mobile TeleSystems OJSC – the largest GSM operator of Russia, announced last week that it plans to launch its WiMAX network in Uzbekistan in 2008. The company was awarded a license for 2500 ~ 2700 Mhz spectrum in April 2007. According to a company press release, the still must make a tender for the supply of equipment and thereafter begin testing of the network, with the expectation of launching services in late 2008.
