TORONTO (WiMAX Day). Motorola announced last week that it will begin to work with Primus Canada and Mipps Inc in a WiMAX trial in Toronto, Canada. According to a company press release, the trial will use Motorola’s wi4 WiMAX platform. Primus is one of the largest alternative communications companies in Canada. The company is developing a WiMAX service that utilises a network of 3.5 GHz frequencies that is owned by Mipps, a Canadian wireless operator, in major cities across Canada. Ted Chislett, president of Primus Canada, noted that Toronto is a critical market and “represents an ideal test-market for this initiative, which could lead to a roll-out in other centers across Canada in the coming months.”
