A WiMAX future for Deutsche Telekom?

JERUSALEM (WiMAX Day). The online journal Globes reported that Deutsche Telekom AG chairman René Obermann said his company would be interested in WiMAX technology if it owned the necessary radio spectrum. Speaking at a conference in Israel this week, Obermann said “I have nothing against WiMAX… But we are unable to provide it right now due to the frequencies spectrum the state has allocated us. I hope that in future, when we have greater capabilities, we’ll provide infrastructure for this as well.” The report noted that the main growth area for Deutsche Telekom will be in broadband, which Obermann estimated may account for €6.1 billion in revenue in 2010.
