Summa plans Moscow WiMAX

MOSCOW (WiMAX Day). Russian telecoms group Summa Telecom has selected three equipment vendors to build a pilot WiMAX network in Moscow. According to a report in Vedomosti, Summa will launch pilots with Alcatel-Lucent, Nortel and Huawei, and then select one of the companies in a final tender bid. Summa CEO Sergei Koshkin previously stated that the company would invest US$120 million in WiMAX by the end of 2007, and up to US$1 billion by 2010. Summa has rights to use 2.5 ~ 2.7 GHz spectrum in Russia.
