Redline hits big in Africa

TORONTO (WiMAX Day). The WiMAX equipment supplier Redline Communications has scored a series of hits in Africa this month. The company announced that Hotspot Business Solutions, a regional telecommunications provider in Tanzania, selected the company’s RedMAX products for the first national Tanzanian WiMAX network, with the first phase of commercial services to be delivered this month in Dar es Salaam.

Redline also was selected by the telecoms operator MTN Cameroon to supply products for a roll-out of a WiMAX network that will include the cities of Douala and Yaoundé, with 10 additional cities planned for 2007 and 2008. According to a company press release, MTN Cameroon will install base stations with capacity to serve thousands of users, and then extend services to more than 12,000 residential users in Douala and Yaoundé.
