TAIPEI (WiMAX Day). Tecom announced that it will increase its equity stake in WiMAX-Telecom (Taiwan) to NT$436 million (US$13.6 million). WiMAX-Telecom holds a license for WiMAX in Taiwan, and is also owned by Teco Electric & Machinery. According to public documents, Tecom will own 44.25% of WiMAX-Telecom. Teco, a telecoms equipment manufacturer, has previously stated that it intends to enter the WiMAX equipment business on a global basis.
